FAQs
Getting To The Heart Of Your Questions!
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, Heartland Roofing, Siding, and Solar is fully licensed and insured. Our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism ensures every project we undertake is completed with the utmost care and compliance with industry regulations.
Our license registration number in Iowa is: C119821.
Can I lay new shingles over existing shingles?
While some jurisdictions allow shingle layering, it’s generally not recommended due to the potential problems that can arise. These include excessive weight, reduced lifespan of the shingle and roof, decreased energy efficiency in the home, a loss in aesthetic appeal, and voiding the manufacturer warranty.
Installing new shingles over existing ones doesn’t address underlying issues. It’s important to address these before replacing shingles or installing a new roof to ensure the long-term integrity of your roofing system. Consult with a professional roofing contractor to inspect your roof and assess its condition to determine the most suitable approach for your specific situation.
Can you provide references/portfolios of past projects?
Absolutely! We are happy to provide references from our many satisfied customers. Our reputation for quality workmanship and exceptional customer service speaks for itself, and we encourage you to hear directly from those who have experienced the Heartland difference.
Do I need to replace my roof if it has moss?
The plain and simple answer is yes. Moss can severely damage the structural integrity of any type of roof. Moss thrives in damp and shaded environments, absorbing moisture and establishing roots that can lift shingles. This can eventually lead to holes in your roof and leaks into your home. It is also dangerous to walk on a moss-covered roof because it makes surfaces very slippery when wet.
If you live in an area that is frequently damp or in the woods, regularly monitor your roof for moss growth and treat it as needed.
